NRWC Green Team a Certified Green Business
NRWC Green Team a Certified Green Business

In 2008, our Green Team was created at Nisqually Red Wind Casino. The team started at a grass-roots level with volunteer-based, activity-based ideas submitted by employees to help reduce our carbon footprint. Since that time, several new programs to support the green business initiatives have been implemented and are supported by all of our departments. We are very proud of the dedication and participation of our staff in making these programs successful!

Nisqually Red Wind Casino has received a Certified Green Business designation from the Thurston County Chamber. We are also preparing to implement Phase III of the Certified Green Program for recycling through our waste disposal company.

Reuse and repurposing are other ways we encourage participation. During the previous year, a book drive was held to donate books to the Well-Fed, Well-Read book drive for the South Sound Reading Foundation, a food and clothing drive was held to donate to the Quixote Village, along with the hot meal prepared for and donated to the camp residents, gently used staff uniforms were donated and most recently, a drive was held to donate old cell phones to SafePlace for domestic violence survivors.

To help raise funds to support our Green Team efforts, other reuse and repurpose programs that we have implemented include sales open to the public of our wood pallets and plastic 5-gallon buckets with or without lids. A silent auction was also held to support these initiatives, as well as a scrap metal recycling program.

We are pleased to recognize our staff's contributions and ask that you can help contribute to the preservation of our great planet.

Thank you, from the Nisqually Red Wind Casino Green Team and all of our employees.
