July 2012 Shootin' the Breeze with Red Wind Associates

Last year's winner of Nisqually Red Wind Casino's Leader of the Year Award, Pedro Santiago, has been working here since 2002, first as a slot attendant before working his way up to his current position. Pedro says he's very happy where he's at right now in the slots department and has never considered transferring from that department. He likes to work with his team as it feels like a family atmosphere; they work together and help each other out. The teamwork is great and they help solve problems together.

Pedro was born in Germany and is Puerto Rican. He comes from a military-family background, moved to Olympia in 1992 and has lived here ever since. His parents currently reside in Texas and he goes to visit them at least once a year.

Pedro is proud of his leadership style and that he's advanced to supervisor and won the Leader of the Year for 2011. When he heard his name called at the annual awards banquet, he was shocked and extremely excited to have won! "I remember I had a big smile on my face and was like whoa, no way," Pedro says, "and walked up there with a smile to receive the award!"
