A few healthy habits can serve you in good stead for a lifetime, but a few more healthy habits can change your life in ways you never expected. That's what the basis of our Healthy Habits Wellness Program is: You make a few changes here and a few tweaks there and before you know it, you're eating healthier, exercising more and just maybe you start thinking about quitting smoking, or at the very least you cut back on how much you smoke each day.
For the past two years, we've had a company wellness program in place to provide educational materials and ideas about how our employees could improve their health, but it wasn't until January of this year that we'd seen participation more than double and actually been able to track overall progress. Now we know that in a 40-day time span 112 employees have exercised an equivalent of 19,713,462 steps. That's 9,281 miles, or the distance from Alaska to Argentina. Additionally, 62 employees have reported a total combined weight loss of 116 pounds over 40 days. That's progress!
We could tell you about the awards our wellness program has won, but that would shift the focus from the sweat and tears that our employees have shed to tooting our own horn, and that's not what's important. It's the healthy habits that are done every day and the little improvements along the way that are most important. That's what makes our employees the exceptional people that they are.
